From the President

The courier business is a business I love. Let me share a bit of my background with you. In 1974, I began a regional courier company that grew to more than 1400 employees and more than 1000 vehicles serving a seven state region in the Southeast. In 1994, I sold the business due to the consolidation of the industry and a trend toward national transportation networks.

In honoring my contractual obligations related to the sale of the business, for five years I observed the courier industry from the sidelines as the national networks attempted to succeed. Believing strongly that the best courier service is provided regionally, I returned to the industry by purchasing a small courier service in 1999 and later changed its name to DirectLink.

In forming DirectLink, my management team and I wanted to retain the fundamental attributes we felt were critical to providing excellent customer service. These attributes include having company owned vehicles clearly identified with our logo, service oriented delivery personnel who are employees in company uniforms, and having an emphasis on training to ‘deliver it right the first time’.

The exciting addition to our business that did not exist 30 years ago when I started in this industry is technology. Today, we have invested in state-of-the-art tracking and tracing technology. Items can be tracked from the point of origin to the point of delivery with time stamps and proof of delivery signatures along the way. Through utilizing technology, DirectLink enters into a partnership with each of our customers giving you data when you need it.

While the technology is amazing, I know it is the people using the technology who make the difference. Many people in our management team have worked together for more than 20 years. They know this business inside and out from the behind the scenes routing, to the efficiencies of operations, and how to establish long lasting relationships with our customers. Creating a long lasting relationship is based on us providing accurate, consistent, and fairly priced solutions to your transportation needs.
